The Village Bakes Origin Story

Baking for family and friends has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child I learned independence, confidence and innovation in the kitchen. Baking is a love that transcends age and culture. 

When it came time for my children to gain some baking independence, I reflected on my own start in baking. I realized that not much had changed in the last 2 decades. My goal became finding products that taste amazing using high quality ingredients, which anyone could make and share. 

When I could not seem to find all the things I was hoping for, I started to teach my children a new lesson. Just as with baking- the possibilities in life are endless. I set out to make them their own miniature baking kits. This became a popular idea not only as a baking activity for children, but also to be inclusive to those with dietary restrictions who wanted a single serving dessert, adult parties to bake and sip, or even community outreach to schools and nursing homes who want a small, easy way to celebrate someone on their birthday.

My small dream of giving my children the independence and creative outlet of baking became a big dream of sharing these kits with our village of people. Village bakes strives to earn a place in people’s lives; to bring them joy in the everyday, joy of learning, joy of spending time together, joy of gifting, joy of taste.
